Today we’re launching the first of our new Developer APIs, along with a redesigned Mxit Developer Centre, at http://code.mxit.com.

By using open web standards, we’re opening up the Mxit platform for any developer to build on. The APIs launching today allow developers access to Mxit Authentication and Messaging, along with the ability to easily publish apps on Mxit through our Mobi Portal API.

In addition, developers can use Mxit Payments for in-app micro transactions with over ten active million users worldwide in the Mxit social graph.

In a trial of our new Developer APIs, South African development company Motribe built their app “JudgeME” in less than a week. Within 4 weeks later, they have over 400,000 users, and over 100,000 successful transactions.

The new Mxit Developer APIs are available now on our Developer Centre at http://code.mxit.com.
